I'm running an Asus 9800GT on an Abit IP Pro Xe board and am unable to get a display out of it on the PCIE-1 slot. It runs ok on the second PCI-E slot but when connected to the first gives no output. (I using the same two DVI monitors in both cases.)
I can run a 8600GS through slot 1 and get an output to both monitors (using a vga converter on one) but when using the 9800 both monitors appear connected (i.e. no 'Check Signal Cable' screen) but still no visuals at POST.
About 6 months ago I locked myself out of Windows and having swapped a HDD found the machine wouldn't go into POST properly - it kept firing up and then shutting down with an error code of 'GPU not present' (or something like that). Anyway, I'd been using the 8600 until recently until deciding to give the 9800 another go - it's progressed from not shutting down now but wondered if this might somehow be linked..? Strange thing is that PCIE-1 works fine with the 8600 and PCIE-2 works fine with both - but by not using PCIE-1 for the 9800 I'm missing out on performance (as I understand it)...
Help/advice gratefully received!
