Hi, everyone.

First time post on here. A couple of weeks ago I bought the Asus G752VY-T7049T from OC and I love it. Great build quality, runs quiet and cool, eats up all my games on ultra and is built like a tank. So no complaints there. I highly recommend it; I even reviewed it on the site, I like it so much!

Anyway, one thing that has puzzled me is that OC lists it as having a GTX980m with 4GB DDR5, which is not true. I've used CPU-Z and nVidia's software as well as Windows' own software and they all state it is 8GB DDR5. So OC should update the listing (as I have read some complaints from other owners - not from OC - complaining about the 4GB being a ripoff).

Which leads me to a question - is this laptop VR ready? It says no on OC, but I assumed that's because they've listed it as only having 4GB GPU RAM. As it actually has 8GB, does this make it VR ready? If not, what's the point of 8GB? Or is that to allow for UHD via Thunderbolt? Sorry for the questions, but I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to these newfangled video technologies!

Also - to any G752VY owners out there or OC themselves - where can I buy a legit, safe spare power adaptor? I could do with a spare but have so far been unable to find any in the UK which aren't dodgy looking Chinese imports. I'd prefer to buy one from OC, if you have any...

Finally - I have to say my experience with OC has been amazing. The customer service I got from them I've not seen in decades. Compared to every other supplier I have dealt with both at home and work, they make me feel like a VIP!

Cheers!

Jon

The 980m does not quite meet (but is very close) the minimum bar of the desktop 970 in terms of performqnce to be classed as VR ready.

As for the psu any decently made brick from the likes of delta electronics with the right tip/voltage and the same or higher amps will do the trick.
