Asus GPU warranty

Hi Guys,

I bought an Asus Matrix 980ti back when they were on sale in september and was just wondering what the situation for their warranty was as I've been toying with the idea of putting a kraken g10 kit onto it to reduce the temps and noise. There are some paper stickers on the back of the gpu that I assume void the warranty, but I don't know if these need to be removed or if Asus/ OcUK has the same warranty terms in the UK as in the US.

If it does void the warranty I'll probably wait a few more months and do the conversion anyway as the likelihood of it failing anytime before I upgrade is pretty low. Thought about getting a 120mm aio, but settled on the 240mm for the better value and cooling:

Any help/ opinions would be appreciated
Cheers

ASUS doesn't support cooler removal , latest strix they put bloody stickers on and if you manage to remove with pillars they have paint on the screws which flakes off when removing .

you might be able to track down rep on here, or give their CS an email to double check

I you bought from here, OcUK had the Asus Turbo 3Yr RMA warranty offer February 2016:

** ASUS TURBO 3YR RMA SERVICE: OcUK CUSTOMERS ONLY!! **

Hi there

I also contacted Asus regarding cooler removal, their official response for OcUK returns:

So if customer ask, we need to give a clear answer => we do not suggest to do so, but if they do, than OK (unless damage is caused by replaced cooler or damage happens during removal / installation of a cooler).

:) :) :) :) :) :)

I'd check directly with OcUK for reassurance that the above was still running when you purchased though.

On the cooling side of things, Iv'e used Kraken/aio and Arctic Accelero Xtreme's with 290's which run similar temps/+ with 980Ti's, if you have the space, the AC Xtreme is quieter and performs simillar without any worries of leakage and is reusable(one of mine went 5870>6950>7970>290) for years if needed.

not sure the pic does it justice, but you can see the cooler is a few cm longer than the PCB which is 1070 reference. then you have the black fins on the back which cover slot one and the cooler covers a couple lots below the card. Huge! :)

Regardless the cooler route, I'd recommend keeping the Asus vrm cooling plate in place if it has one if it all fits together.

I've posted to the CS forum too to get an official response, but I'll definitely consider that accelero as I've seen great temps from it in some videos.
I'll need to make sure my CPU cooler (Cryorig H5) doesn't interfere with those backplate fins, but other than that it should fit fine in my case as the GPU at the moment is already 2.5 slots thick and there are no other expansion cards.

If you remove the cooler and sticker you will void the warranty and we cannot honour the warranty should you have any issues after that.

If you continue to have issues, please don't hesitate to contact us.

And this is why I won't buy an ASUS gpu or any other make of gpu that won't allow cooler removal. Shame as I like ASUS products.
