Asus HD 7970 Matrix Platinum Flicker problems? Faulty

Hi I purchased a Asus HD 7970 Matrix Platinum last week. Once installed I noticed that the screen flickered a lot while using windows, using internet and watching movies. Also I was getting texture problems in games where certain textures would appear like a chess board.

I have tried a fresh install of windows and have updated all bios and drivers for my computer. I had GPU tweak installed but I have not overclocked the GPU at all, from previous advice I tied to remove this but still I got the same problems.

I have tried beta drivers and rolling back the drivers to previous versions, no joy from doing this either.

As soon as I put my old R6950 back in all works fine.

Unsure as to what to try next? Maybe accept defeat and send it back?

Hi,

I just had to RMA mine back to Overclockers. Similar problem to yours, but only happened in games. It stopped if I under-clocked the card, but at stock speeds it would artefact all the time. It was actually the second one I've had, the first broke too :(. Hopefully I'll get a refund this time as I don't really want to try another!

Yes I have read your thread also. Sometimes the screen will just lock up blue and I have to reboot

Just had a quick go on battlefield 3 to test and got artifacts as well. When playing earlier some textures were like a flashing chess board.

Going to try in a friends machine tomorrow and if the results are the same it has to go back.

I've noticed a single flicker yesterday and another just now while on desktop. I might try overclocking it at the weekend to see if there's any change.

Guess I wasn't the only one that got a bad card, my one didn't want to OC at all since any kind of bump would result to artefacts, even after I putted it back to stock speeds, after a while it started to produce artefacts and tearing as well, had it RMA'd for a refund.
