I've recently bought this board but still undecided on what memory to buy. I'm going for PC5300 667 and looking at 2x512mb sticks. I've got the QVL for memory but I'm still not sure what to go for as I've read even some on the QVL list are prone to problems. A friend recommended:

Geil 1GB 2x512mb (GX21GB5300DC) (MY-030-GL) but this is not on QVL.

I was also looking at either Corsair or Crucial.

Also i know that buying 2 sticks will enable dual channel but whats the increase over a single channel on this DDR2 m/b?

Just noticed this on offer

GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC6400 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX21GB6400UDC) (MY-057-GL)

The CPU I have is a Athlon 3500 AM2. I know most recommend 667 for this processor but will 800 be worth spending a little more?

You might aswell get the best you can, its got good timings too at 800 speed 4.4.4.12 so no doubt if you only want to run at 667 you can turn those down too 3.3.3.9 easily.

You should check on the mobo site see if its ok with that ram as i had a M2N-E when i had a A64 setup and i had hell with the G.Skill ram i had originally, since sold all that on for a conroe and the geil ram.

i wouldnt buy crucial, my bother in law has the same board, bought crucial 6400 ram (i think) which on their web site said was compatible.
He had nothing but problems & couldnt even install windows, i gave him a stick of mine (corsair twinX) & it installed no problem. He ordered the TwinX & returned the Crucial & has had no problems since.
