I have the gollowing hardware:
Asus M5A99X EVO AMD 990X (Socket AM3+) DDR3 PCI-Express ATX Motherboard
AMD Bulldozer FX-8 Eight Core 8120@8150 Black Edition 3.60Ghz (Socket AM3+) Processor
As I do a lot of Photoshop work I chose the TeamGroup Elite 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
O/S is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
The problem I am having is Windows sees the 16Gb of RAM but only 7.9Gb is useable.
On checking the BIOS in POST it reports 8GB of RAM but inside the BIOS screens it sees the 2 8Gb modules in their slots.
I have tried manual setting for the RAM in the BIOS but it makes no difference.
After speaking to O/C tech support they have put it down to incompatible memory modules so I am returning them and going for Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C10 1600MHz Dual
Channel Kit.
Does anyone out there have this motherboard with more than 8Gb of RAM on it?
Surely it must support 8Gb memory sticks?
If it doesn't the new memory isn't going to work either!
Asus tech support are terrible - waste of time speaking to them.
