The Asus Mars series....

For eons I've dreamed about owning one of these cards.

Finally (after much hard work I may add) I am in a position to "possibly" afford the next one.

The question is, are OC UK going to stock it? (I see one Mars 2 in stock)

If so, you have at least one customer here (not sure how I will get it to Brisbane though)!!!

Cheers,

- Matt.

They are nice cards but due to the price are just seen as collectibles, 99% of the sane world would just go buy a pair of 4gb 680's...

Indeed.

I understand the performance vs cost aspect - but as I said...this is my Ferrari moment, and has long been a personal ambition.

Now I am reading that the Mars 3 may never be released?

Just trying to get some official clarification from the distributor.

Cheers

- Matt.

It's probably been cancelled due to the GTX 690 already being at that silly price point. The Mars 3 would probably cost £1500 if they wanted to release it with the same silly air of exclusivity. It's a graphics card! you use it to play games! It's only the fastest for a year at best! lol :)

They are collectors cards and after seeing how much the Mars II cards sell for, it could be worth buying one. A good investment opportunity.

GPUs are not investment items!!!

I understand that you want it but don't fool yourself that somehow this thing will be worth its money 20 years from now as a collectible.

In fact, after 5-6 years it'll be worth £0 as no one will be interested to buy it and it will be patently obsolete.

It's ok to splash on things you like but don't use the collectibility element as justification for what is pure self-indulgence.

With that kind of money you could go on holidays etc. but horses for courses blah blah.

I didn't realise the OP came in here looking for advice on how to spend his money

He wants it, he has the money, he's weighed up the cost/benefit situation. If you're going to put a downer on it then don't post IMO.

That is a crazy price!! You could buy gregs full PC nearly for that :P

Ive seen PCs with SLI 680s for cheaper!

I know he wants it but i agree its kinda dumb its not like its gold, now that is a good investment!
