I recently purchased an ASUS Matrix Platinum AMD 7970 from OCUK. I have finally got around to setting this up in my current PC. When I have tried to Boot into windows I am not able to see anything being displayed.....can not even get to the BIOS. I believe it is just hanging

My current PC Specs are the following:

Corsair Hydro Series H100
Intel Core i5-3570K
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H Socket 1155
Samsung 128GB SSD 830
Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 16GB (2x8GB)
Seasonic G series 550w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply

When everything is plugged in I can see a set of green LED lights on the graphics card.

I have tried all 3 PCI Express slots, no difference.

Removed all Hard drives / DVD drive, 1 stick of RAM, and any connected via USB, still no difference.

Is there anything else you guys think I should be trying? I know this graphics card requires more power than my current ATI 5850 but I am sure 500W is enough from the Seasonic PSU

I am back to using my old graphics card for the time being which is working fine.

Is it time to contact OCUK and get a replacement?

Yep both 8pin PCI-E are plugged into the Matrix. I believe the LED lights will glow RED if not enough power is provided.

Do you think updating the BIOS will help, to be honest I have never updated the BIOS on this motherboard before.

It may very well do so.

There are improvements and compatibilty fixes added to BIOS updates all the time.

The Z77-D3H (the non X board) always had issues with ATI 7850 cards before users did a BIOS update.

Download the BIOS, extract the file, stick the 4Mb BIOS file onto a USB stick and use QFlash within the BIOS to do the update.

Like everyone already said, you got to update your bios, I had the same problem, it won't work until your bios is up to date no matter what you do.

I had exactly the same problem, and I hadn't tried updating a mobo bios before (same mobo as me). It turned out to be easier than I thought.

You guys were right on the mark. Updated the BIOS and BOOM graphics card is ready for me to play with. Brilliant, cannot believe it was that simple, slightly odd as I am sure the 7970 was out before my motherboad.

Oh well I must carry on with Batman / BF4 now, it's such a burden xD

Thanks again!
