Hi,

Has anyone got any experience with the Asus MAXIMUS IV EXTREME?

I found it on a competitor web-site, it costs considerably more money than a Asus P8P67, is that just because of it being an E-ATX form factor and having 4 x PCI-E 2.0 x16?

I think an E-ATX will fit in my Corsair 800D, but is it worth an extra £100+ (compared to Asus P8P67 Deluxe)? If it's a bigger board, does that offer more efficient cooling? Are there any other benefits I'm not seeing? Or is it a total rip-off?

Thanks,
KB.

Hi Tim,

A bit off-topic, but I'd be interested on your thoughts on the 3D, 120Hz, 23" Asus display you mentioned when you power it up and have a go. Is it the VG236H?

When I start my build (after I finish decorating the study/game room/mancave) I was thinking about going down the nVidia 3D Vision Surround road.

I was planning to get 3 x LG W2363D because it got a good review on 3dvision-blog, but I'm worried that the bezel will be hard to work with (in a surround setup) because of the tube thingy on the bottom. Does the VG236H have a thin bezel? How much did you pay for it?

Thanks,

Hi folks, OP here.

Got my MIVE last week.

I've been getting weird little freezes where everything hangs for a second, and any sound playing skips. This happens about once per minute, sometimes it hangs while booting.

After some investigation, I've found it's a problem with port S1 on the Marvell RAID controller. When I put my HDD on any other SATA port it stops happening.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Am I going to have to speak to ASUS about getting RMA?

Thanks,
KB.

Strange issue there 'KingBob' is it a known issue with the board?

I don't know.
I'll call ASUS later and ask them about it.

The weird thing about it, is that it seems to get worse if I use non-ASUS recommended drivers, ie. the latest and greatest straight from Marvell.

I would have expected, if it is a hardware fault, for drivers not to make a difference.

Am I wrong?
