Hi

could someone give me some ideas,

Have just built a z270 with kabylake 7700 it has been running fine until today.

It is coming up with error code 55 that says memory so took it out tried all slots,

it will only boot to bios with 1 stick of mem and in slot B2, with both sticks it will just sit there with no signal. At first i thought it was the stick of memory but i swapped them and they both boot in B2, the manua says with 1 stick A2, 2 sticks a2,b2

Have tried other memory out of the skylake build here, no such luck and i am and the end of my ideas, looked in bios nothing seems off,

The full spec
Asus Maximus ix
7700
Corsair 3200 x 8 gig x 2
Evga 850 P2
Kraken x62
Gtx 1080 xgaming

Thank you so much for anyone who can help

1) reset the CMOS

2) reseat the CPU and check the socket for any bent pins, then reattach checking for even mounting pressure without over-tightening

3) check for over-tightened screws surrounding the DIMM and CPU socket

If no joy post back.

How long have you let it sit for at 55? Some codes can take a while on z270, for instance code 22 can take upto a minute, all part of memory training.

What have you set your mems too, XMP? Maybe just try freq of 3200mhz all timings on auto and 1.35v dram and see if it boots

55 is contact issue in dimms socket. Cpu socket or warped board which causes the above or ofcourse finally a bad mem stick.

Really check the socket. Check mount pressure of cooler. Reseat dimms. I also use contact cleaner to clean the dimms and dimm slots when I get 55.

that is really great advice i will try the reset and i googled clean contact and see some cans on amazon, i get a can and see

yes i did try the 3200 just now actually, it was auto before but no luck, next stop i will loosen the motherboard, i never thought of that

i will post back what happens, i really really appreciate all the comments.
The annoying part is 1 stick goes to windows, seems all is well...frustrating

Hi just a update

It was the 7700, when i put a skylake 6700 in it works fine all memory slots, i put the 7700 into the vr machine and that will only run with 8 gig stick in so its the cpu for some reason.

Thank you again for replying and helping
