Hi

I am having a problem with an Asus Maximus.

In the bios the soutbridge temperature is showing as a minus figure - therefore when I tried to boot it displays a warning message which I think is designed for overheat protection.

I have tried disabling the warnings in the bios but the message is still displayed - I have to hit F1 for it to continue booting but it is really annoying.

Also on occassion when I boot the machine the fans all spin but it doesent boot.

I have tried flashing to both older bios's and the latest with no change to the above.

any thoughts please?

Detail are:

Asus Maximus mobo

Q6600 CPU

4GB of crucial ram

Only add in cards are a generic Video card and the supplies ASUS sound card.

Hopefully not being cheeky - but I am unclear as to how these impact on a bios reading for a southbridge.

well the details where needed because i also run a asus maximus board but i run an i7 cant help u if we dont know what board you are using

sounds to me that the temprature diode on the board is basicaly crapped out the only way u going to get rid of this problem is rma the board otherwise just keep on hitting F1
