Asus Maximus V Gene Problem

Hey all

Today for no reason im getting Error 55 which is a Dram issue.

It seems i cannot use Slots A1 or A2, which means i cannot use Dual channel memory.

Both B1 and B2 slots are working so im running single channel.

I moved my system to a new case last week, and had a few issues but it was functioning fine.... Now this.

My 3770k Is a bare die, so no IHS and is direct to Waterblock, could I have damaged the CPU to cause this? It is seated correctly as I checked.

I'm at a loss now, i have only lost 1-2 fps in games so no big deal, it just is a pain i cant fix it!

Its possible to over tighten the cooler/block, warp the boards PCB and thus mess with the pins trying to make contact with the cpu.

Check also mounting screws. This is for sure something warping the board. 55 is contact issue.

Also check CPU socket and ram slots.

Ok.

So I took the mainboard off, checked the standoff's a few were loose, so made sure all was tight.

Resat the CPU, checked pins and checked CPU Die (My cpu is running with no IHS)

Put it all back together.

and still code 55 persists when i try to use those two slots

Has my mainboard died? Do asus do a good warranty on these?

Ah well. Gave up and ordered a new skylake set of goodies.

i5 6400
ASUS z170 pro gaming
16gb ddr4 2400

looks like the 6400 can easy to 4.7!

I just need to find my none low profile ek mounting kit...
