Every time windows update kicks in it disrupts my network setting, it searches for ages and finally comes up with unidentified public network, instead of the home network that it should show, I lose the internet and the only way I can get it back is to do a restore to before the update, it's usually fine after it updates again. I can't be certain but I think it's when it updates defender.
I'm running Win 7 64. are there any LAN setting I could alter to stop this unruly behaviour? I have reinstalled the LAN drivers.

Any suggestions?

Are you drivers on the latest version, or the defaults from the disk? It sounds like there's a possibility that windows update is finding a more recent version of your LAN drivers and installing that, and then going foobar somehow.

Take a look at your updates list, and ensure it isn't the case...Either that, or install the latest driversets from asus directly to ensure you have the latest version from them.

Hi guys I've got all the latest driver updates (and BIOS) and there's no sign of LAN drivers in the installed update list. I've now reinstalled the LAN driver directly from the Intel site in case the Asus file is damaged, I will have to wait till the next MS update comes around to see if it's helped, will bump the post if it hasn't. Cheers

Looks like the drivers on the ASUS site are duff, I tried reinstalling from there with no luck, but the ones direct from Intel are still holding good, fingers crossed!
