ASUS MG279Q Refresh Rate Problem

I've been having an issue with my ASUS MG279Q for a while now, and it seems to be getting worse.

When cold booting, there's about 90% chance that the monitor sets itself to 59hz, and it doesn't give an option to bump the refresh rate up. I notice it instantly as my mouse feels very laggy.

This problem is getting worse, and I'm now having to restart my PC sometimes 4 or 5 times to get the option to enable 144hz.

Anybody got any ideas what this could be?

EDIT: I have a 1080Ti and am not using Freesync.

Hmm. When it's broken can you check the EDID data using CRU? It'd be interesting to see if it's being misreported or not.

Otherwise the first step is to try the monitor on another PC to narrow it down.
