ASUS Motherboard Ships With Embedded Linux, Web Browser

Technologically, it's interesting, but I just don't see the point of having a BIOS level operating system with a web browser?

If the OS supported disks I could see how they could do away with driver CDs as you could boot up the machine, plug in your network connection and download the newest drivers and utilities, but you cannot save anything.

If it's supposed to allow you use your PC as an audio-visual system then most laptops have had this technology for some time, and MCE has the ability to resume within a few seconds anyway.

Interesting, but currently a bit useless.

I agree in some respects, perhaps this would be better implemented into a laptop mobo, would be nice to have this feature on a laptop while on the move if you just want to surf the net, I imagine it would conserve a hell of allot of battery power as apposed to booting a full os on the HDD, you would only need a fraction of the latops resources, all I used my MacBook for this summer was surfing the net, I didn't once save any information, it was just a means to access the net on the move and check my online email acc's.
