Just purchased a Asus n550lf with the following spec
I5 4200u
6gb ram
500hd
2gb nvidia gt745

This was to replace my i5 desktop due to a lack of room
It is no where near the speed of my old i5 2500k so was wondering if adding a ssd would improve the speed.
Can a ssd replace the existing HD or do I have to lose the optical drive. Looking on the crucial site the m550 is compatible with this laptop, bit gutted I didn't go for a micro system now.

Can you not send it back under DSR?

If the Laptop only has one drive bay the you can fit your SSD and then fit the HDD into a HDD Caddy. Another Option is to fit a SSHD.
