Any thoughts on this card.

History, currently running a Radeon 9600 pro 128MB card. Plays my main game, Fighter Ace 3.9 just under full tilt.

A month ago I bought a Powercolor xt850 x AGP 256 card and I RMA'd it two weeks ago. Fragmenting all over the place. After reading many posts re this card being less than perfect I asked for a refund. Waiting to see how it does in testing.

I do not need a top range card for my game so I have ordered the above:

ASUS N6800/TD/512M Geforce 6800 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X

Any info re this would be helpfull.

HI there

To be frank its crap, its a card based all round marketing. The 512MB does nothing to help performance as its a slow core with slow memory. 6800 GS cards are literally twice as quick as are X800 GTO cards. :)

Just speaking the truth, you can get an X800 GTO for same money on AGP which is twice as quick. Or for slightly more you can get a 6800 GS which is a lot faster.

So okeys with this one eh? And I will return the crap one on Monday or sell it on Ebay!!

OcUK GeForce 6800 GS 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-035-OK)

GDDR2 -> check
128bit -> check
Asus (and thus over priced) -> check
512mb on a crippled card, thus pushing the price up pointlessly -> check.

avoid -> check :p

Yep agreed, it merely looks good on paper but real world performance its very very poor, worth no more than approx £60-£70 of anyones money.

The 6600 GT's are faster which shows how slow this card really is so considering how much you can get X800 GTO's and 6800 GS for from OcUK they are much better buys. :)

I remeber starting a thread about this a while ago, Gibbo said it was a pap card and he was right. I went for the X800 GTO and modded it to a fully fledged X800XL. Top choice.
