On my Asus Nb i noticed it has some foam, really thin stuff. It looks to protect the caps form being shorted i guess. What i have noticed is thats its wearing away and thats my fault from cleaning the Nb and heatsink. What have i got household wise that i can use to make it safe as i swear it's playing up as im getting some issues with the pc going off, freezing etc etc. It's only started from me cleaning it and putting on new thermal paste.....

Electrical tape, some case insaltion foam maybe or is that too thick? Any ideas?

I have the same board as you, when I replaced the stock cooler on the NB there wasn't any foam/tape, what revision is your board?

Any non-conductive tape (duct tape?) would protect the caps from any unwanted contact with the heatsink but could act as an insulator (not sure about NB temps so may not be an issue.

No ideal what rev it be. Latest i think. Not a clue where i'd look to see.

It's white colored really thin in thickness and width foam. Doute you'd need cool the caps just the NB chip die. i might just cut soemthing out a cherios packet, it's thin, should insualte okay and do the job.

Just make sure the cheerios pack is clean, the last thing you want is the smell of burning cheese wafting out of your computer :)

LOL random. I havent done anyhting with it one cause i can;t be ahemed. I'm gonna use some electrical tape. Mark on the heatsink where current stuff is and apply some new stuff about 2 layers, it's just to stop the caps going BANG!!!!!!!!!
