Asus new build issue

Hi!

I've just put a new build together using an asus m4a88td-m evo usb3 motherboard. I've powered up and it starts fine (all fans start, hard drive spins, DVD drive powers, keyboard flashes, etc etc), but i appear to get no video output (verified with a second monitor and cable)

I have added a separate ATI graphics card, but I'm assuming that I'll need to get into the bios to de-activate the onboard card, so I have the monitor plugged into the onboard card (i've tried both though, just in case!)

Can anyone offer any help here?

Thanks, in advance...

Hi and welcome to the forums.:)

Have you got the ram installed in the correct slots, also is the 4/8 pin ATX cpu power connector plugged in?

Try booting without RAM to confirm that the board beeps furiously at you. If not, then try reseating the CPU, check the "reset CMOS" jumper is in the correct position and until you get signs of life disconnect all non-essential devices (drives, cables, cards) and build back up afterwads.

Do a pre start up check, like check make sure everything is in nicly. if still no live do a basic boot, means take off anything you DON'T need to get the thing to start up.
if not ( make sure you got the case specker connected) take out the last RAM it should screem at you, if so its alive, and something is stopping it booting, than put each back till it don't post. IF not reset the CPU and heatsink. than try

side note you do put in the standoffs didn't you? in case it is your first build?

hi - the case had some small brass screws that screwed into holes in the case, these aligned up with the holes on the motherboard (although i was careful to remove any 'extras') and I put screws into them. I presume this will be adequate as standoffs?

Can you get into the BIOS menu ok?.
