Hi All,

I bought a new set of drives for my PC and decided to do a complete new install of everything. My system is a Asus Sabertooth X79, i7 3820 and 32gb of Ram.

All I've done so far is install Windows 7 and all the latest drivers for my hardware.

Last night, after a few drinks, I thought overclocking seemed a good idea. This morning I changed it back to stock to make sure I hadn't loaded any daft settings in my drunken state.

While in the Bios I noticed Asus OC Tuner and set it to run. It overclocked my CPU to 4.675 Ghz and my Ram (which is DDR1600) to 2020 Mhz. The thing is it also took the CPU core voltage to 1.384v. Is this safe?

I have a ton of watercooling in my PC and I've been monitoring the temps for a few hours and they are still really low.

The PC is running better than it even has, and I assume Asus don't add an automatic setting that destroys PC's, but I wanted to check with you guys?

When I upgraded to Z87 My Asus Z87-A was the first board I have had that had OC Tuner so curiosity got the better of me and gave it a shot. It clocked my 4670K to 4.4Ghz but gave it a whopping 1.395v so I never used it again. Clocking it manually it only needs 1.265v for 4.4Ghz so it would seem it overvolts by quite a bit. Now that you have a idea of what it can do write down the voltages etc and go into the bios and clock it manually. You may be able to twaek the volts down quite a bit.
