Hi all,
Friend of mine has asked me who is better for Motherboard and GPU in the gaming market Asus or Gigabyte.

I did ask what sort of gaming he means and he said the high end market.

My answer was they are both good for difference reasons etc.

What do you guys think? I know Gigabyte have great audio and Asus have the ROG line.

This is all general so please no flame wars etc. I dont even own a Asus or Gigabyte component.

Gigabyte as they have a UK based RMA center and great customer support, the boards are good to.

I have had both and to be honest they are both very good m/boards and gpu's.
Never had a problem with them so dont know about customer service.
you can't go wrong with which one you pick.

Dunno if I've just been unlucky but never got on with Asus motherboards very well - not had a problem with most of their other stuff.

RMA wise my experience with Asus has been fairly unremarkable nothing especially good, nothing especially bad, never really had to RMA any gigabyte stuff myself but other people's experiences seem to be mostly good when they are good but bad when they are bad (which isn't too often but does happen now and again - their product quality is pretty similiar to that to - mostly good but you get the odd bad).

Gigabyte for me. Can't say I've sampled the RMA function but having had an Asus board and moved over to Gigabyte, it just felt nicer when building and better put together.
(If a mobo can do)

Had both Gigabyte and Asus motherboards, both very good. Currently on a Asus Maximus VI Hero now and it's an awesome bit of kit.

I do prefer Gigabyte though for the UK RMA and customer support it's top notch. Asus suck a little when it comes to after-care.

Will be going Gigabyte again for my next build [few years away still]..

Same here, currently running a Giga Z87X-oc and an Asus Impact, both great boards. I would say the Giga is a little more durable but you can't go wrong with either.

I have two machines, one with a Giga board (GA-X58a-UD5 rev 1) which is a couple of years old and a new machine with an Asus Maximus VI Hero. Both great boards.

Simple OC'ing I'd go with Asus for the AI Suite.
Advanced OC'ing again I'd go Asus although you can sometimes find yourself fighting the 'auto' settings.
The Giga board has been more durable with the benefit of dual BIOS.

I'd find a board that matches your needs in terms of SATA ports, USB headers rather than a particular brand to be honest.

Always used ASUS, the only problem I ever had was with a board I broke myself.

To be fair, both produce excellent boards there's not a fag paper between them. It just comes down to personal preference and sometimes just aesthetics, many people choose boards to match a build colour scheme.

You can't really go wrong with either brand.

I've had both brands and they are both good though I perfer Gigabyte. IMO there boards are easier to build with because of the location of things like fan headers, expansion slot positions etc
