So.. I ordered myself a scythe ninja cooler, and an akasa fan controller, installed them (holy bejesus the ninja is a tight fit :p), unplugged the 2 chassis fans from the mobo connections and plugged them into the fan controller.

Results:
Fans working fine, the chassis fans are indeed speed-adjustable, and sit nicely behind the ninja (opposite the 120mm fan) sucking the air through it and out of the case. And with the ninja on i'm getting (just tested with asus pc probe) a drop in temps at idle of 15C and 30C at load over stock cooler (p4 3.0c @ 3.2).

Problems:
When i boot i now get told by an americanesque computer voice that the cpu fan test has failed. But in bios and in Asus pc probe it's showing the cpu fan as running fine @ 1230 rpm. And it seems fine, it's spinning nicely and in the right direction.
Any help with my little problem would be greatly appreciated :).

I think it's because the fan is spinning below 1500RPM. If you have one that's going faster than that speed, plug it into the CPU fan header. If not, try to disable the sensor although I have no idea how to do this dispite owning the board.

Thing is i don't know how to up the RPM. my stock fan used to spin at 2300+RPM constantly. Hmm, i have the cpu fan going straight into the mobo (as i did with the old one), so surely the speed shouldnt have changed?.
