I got this motherboard from a friend who had it working fine in his PC, the idea is to use it in another friends PC in which the motherboard is gone.
Anyway the Asus P5B Deluxe board has a burnt component, near to the 4/8 pin power connector, behnd the KB/mouse ports, the first friend says he didn't have this connected so maybe the board has been drawing power from elsewhere and damaged this component.
Anyway, as the board is working fine I'd like to see if I can replace this part but first I need to identify what it is, all I can say is that it's a SMD component, please have a look at the pics;

High res/large pics;

De-soldered from motherboard;

Any help appreciated.

I cant help you with identifying the part but this is what my P5B Deluxe board looks like

That's appreciated, I'll show it to the guy who removed the burnt one, thanks for taking the time to take the pic.

you cant replace them like a normal fuse. like all surface mounted components you will need special equipment to remove and replace it. even if you can find the part you will likely have to buy 1,000 of them. :(

that is a re-settable fuse. easy enough to replace with a soldering iron and some copper braid.

the hardest thing will be working out the value and wondering what made it fail (could indicate another component has failed and was drawing too much current thought the fuse)

you 'could' but it would be a bit of a bodge job, just solder some wire across the pads, but beware - its not advised

edit. have a look at RS components and/or farnell and search through their fuses, might be a 1206 size, I'm not sure just from the image
