My old Asus P5b Plus Vista has gone bad (BIOS update! Grr!)
Anyway, I have the chance to replace it with a current motherboard and I'd like some reccomendations please!

A little overclocking would be nice but not first consideration.
The board must be reliable and stable as the P5b wasn't the best!

Spec is Q6600 + AF7Pro, 4gb OCZ Ram PC8000, 8800 GT, PhysX (lol), PCI-E1 TV card, 3x SATA optical drives 2x SATA H/D, one ageing IDE H/D.

Form factor not too important, but full ATX would be nice.
Budget of around £100 - £120,

Thanks!

If overclocking is not your prime concern then a half-decent P35 mobo will do the job, just make sure you get one with 6 or 8 SATA connectors like the or the P35-DS3R.

I may upgrade to SLi in the future with another 8800GT, so maybe nice to have that facility but not absolute neccessity.

Can someone enlighten me on the chipset timeline? P35, X38, 680I etc?? Whats the current one?

if you are considering sli, you are stuck with nforce7 chipsets such as the 780i, if SLi isnt being considered then look at either p35 or x38 chipset MBs. ignore the nforce 6 chipsets as they were poor to say the least.
