Asus P5B Vista probs

I'm having major problems with Vista Ultimate OEM and this mobo. When I try and run the utilities CD, I'm getting the following error:

"Motherboard support CD does not support this operating system (WNT_6.0P_32_MCE)"

Similar problems with the most recent downloaded Vista audio drivers from the Asus website. Help! I've got no audio at all at the moment.

That's because the motherboard driver cd doesn't contain any vista drivers.
In fact, although Asus have vista drivers for this motherboard on their website, Vista has all the drivers required.
You can download the lan driver if you want, if I remember correctly it's a newer version that than within Vista.

This applies to the P5B and the P5B-E, I've not tried Vista on the deluxe and deluxe with wifi versions yet but no doubt Vista will be fine with those as well seeing as they are all based on the 965 chipset.

The audio drivers in Vista worked fine for the P5B & B-E based PC's I've built this week.

Any ideas why I've got no audio then? If I try and instal the driver from the ASUS website I get the following:

"The audio driver files do not support your computer hardware"

The sound applet from the control panel shows no audio devices installed.

What should I be seeing in device manager for the audio controller?

on this board your better of using the default vista audio drivers, the soundmax drivers on the asus site for vista are not digitally signed so vista might have a problem loading them, unless you disable digital signing at vista startup. :)

That's the problem. It's not loading any default audio drivers. The only way I've been able to get any sound out of this rig is to install a separate soundcard.
