ASUS P5E-V HDMI Power up problems. HELP PLEASE!

I have just bought the following from OCUK

£24.99 x 1 - Keysonic Wireless Keyboard/Touchpad ACK-540RF
£77.99 x 1 - Asus P5E-VM HDMI Intel G35 Micro-ATX (Socket 775)
PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
£104.99 x 1 - Antec Fusion Black HTPC Case - 430HE Watt PSU
£79.99 x 1 - Western Digital Caviar SE16 750GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
(WD7500AAKS)
£57.99 x 1 - Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB)
£119.99 x 1 - Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W
Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
£13.99 x 1 - Samsung SH-S202HBEBN 20x DVD±RW IDE Dual Layer ReWriter
(Black) - OEM
£5.99 x 1 - Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g)

When I press the power button on my case, the CPU and case fans spin up for a brief moment and the power LED turns on, then they all shut down again. The power LED stays on. No beeps are heard.

I have started again from the beginning and still not having any luck at all: Still does the same, CPU fan spins, case fans spin and then the fans shut down!

Help as I have got to justify this to the missus who has not seen my spend yet!

Nick:confused:

may aswell start with the basics, have you plugged in the extra 4 pin connector on the board ?

does it do anything if you try and boot with only 1 stick of memory in it ? if it does and you can get to bios up the voltage on the ram to 1.9v

removed one stick of ram and double checked the 4 pin. The fans still run for about 4 seconds and then stop. Green power light is still on on the motherboard. Any other suggestions?

i am about to scream!!

tried everything.. No joy at all! unplugged everything except power to the board (4 pin as well as the 24 pin and CPU fan.. same happens again and again!

I have noticed that I have the rev. 1 version.

this is where it all goes wrong!! -

Seems that there is a problem with this version.

Can anyone help to verify this? And if so what do I do now (to return Mobo - overclockers or ASUS.)

Really really P'd off and need help!
