Asus P5G41T-M LX Motherboard CPU Support ?

I am thinking of getting an Asus P5G41T-M LX Motherboard, to replace the board in his PC that as just gone down. He as an Intel Core 2 Duo E6700, 2.66 GHz (SL9ZF) CPU. According to the CPU Support list for this Motherboard this CPU is not listed, though it does have the Core 2 Duo E6550 (2.33GHz,1333FSB,L2:4MB,rev.G0) and the Core 2 Duo E6750 (2.66GHz,1333FSB,L2:4MB,rev.G0). I was wondering beause his CPU is not in the CPU Support list would it work with it. Anybody ever had any experinece of using CPU's that are not in the support list.

support lists are there generally as a quick reference guide they dont test each and every individual cpu memory etc. if your buying the board new then if it dont work with the cpu you could RMA it or beforehand phone and ask if there is any compatibility issues
