Guys

Just bought this great Mobo and i am very pleased.

Now will this support Crossfire ? I am thiking of getting 2x3780 512Mb when they are back in stock .

Is anyone running 2X3780 in Crossfire on this board and what sort of 3D marks are you getting , whats in game performance like , would it be better than a 8800GTX ?

Yes but it will only be 16x in top slot and 4x in the second slot which will hinder the performance in crossfire. If you have a full xfire board (dual 16x pcie 2.0) then it should in theory beat the GTX.

What resolution will u be running at? Xfire would make a lot more of a noticeable difference when running higher than 1280x1024 (so a bigger TFT than 17")

That should run very nicely then with those crossfired cards. I know the benchmarks are synthetic but in the 3D Mark 06 tables, xfired 3870s are ahead of a single GTX, with a similar setup.

For actual gaming performance the GTX still may edge it, and it will depend on the game as to how well they can utilise the 2 cards.

any games that support crossfire well will be faster than the GTX in pretty much all titles but non supported games running effectively in single card mode will be a little bit slower than the GTX.

i sold my GTX for 2 3870's and haven't regretted it a bit - it's quite noticably faster and there's a few ppl on these forums who have done the same and have the same opinion as me.

as far as the 16x/4x versus full the 16x lanes issue you will suffer some performance loss, i'd ignore the weird x38 performance it's most likely due to teething issues and should be as fast/faster than the Blitz x8/x8 now.

What board are you using for your Crossfire sir ?

the Asus Maximus sir, moved to it from a P5K-Deluxe.

both top notch boards for me but the maximus defo has better power regulation and runs cooler also, my quad used to squeal like mad under load with the p5k but the dual cores were fine.
