Guys i just ordered this mobo with my spec today, spent £1124 and am now worried that i should have stuck with the original mobo in my spec (apit 35 pro).

I only changed to this motherboard at someones recommendation on my thread, about it having good onboard sound etc. But have i gone and got myself a dud for 140 when i could have had a proven board for cheaper?

Cant really find any information on this, the 'official' thread goes on about the deluxe ones and on first few pages it looks less than promising. Was this a bad buy and should i nip it back to the shop tomorrow when it arrives and swap it for a different board?

I am intending to overclock this rig, its a Q6600 with 4 gig of geil and an 8800GTX.

Thanks all

for me, a few tweaks in the bios (memory timings, boot order, the usual stuff) and running the install disk's instALL feature for drivers did everything I needed to get up and running at stock on both vista 32 & 64.

It's also been up to 3.2GHz stable, but I need a bigger case for airflow if I want to keep it running at that for ever. (5hdds, 2 opticals in a centurion5 is a tight squeeze)

Ordered an antec 900 to go with mine, i know the case isnt that big but is seems to have a lot of airflow in it.

What are the chances of me getting up to the 3.6 sort of range with this mobo, q6600 and a tuniq tower? What can i realistically aim for anyway?

If its 2.4 at stock then i would be happy with 3gig tbh lol

My E6600 with this Mobo runs all day at 3.6 and a tuniq tower , takes a few volts though 1.55 in bios .

I am sure that the Q6600 will be fine at that speed.

your chances are pretty high I recon - I pushed to 3.4 but it was a bit hot for my liking, but I'm sure it's down to airflow and me just leaving the voltage on auto.

I wasn't that fussed about getting a good clock, I'll do that when I get round to getting a big enough case for it.

But seriously, all you need to do is get some PC2-6400 running 1:1 on the 9x multi and make sure it's cool enough and stable. Which shouldn't be too much trouble I don't think.

Well i dont wanna take any major risks yet, but if i could get it to 3gig on stock i would be more than happy :)

How is it that temperatures get high without changing voltage? i would have thought temps got higher the higher you set the voltage?

if you leave the voltage on auto then it'll just give it more volts the higher you clock it I think.

I would've got better temps if I'd just set voltage to 1.3v or something (not sure of the right figures, at parents' just now) - but then I'd have to spend the time playing with voltages to get stable, and I couldn't really be bothered since I know I need a new case anyway.
