ASUS P5N-D INSTALL AND CLOCK

Hi guys first time post for me just like to say i recently purchased a asus p5n-d 750i and in the box were things like a chipset fan if you use water cooling and little blocks for the front headers which made installation a breeze,so i let it for a couple of days and started on the clocking ended up with stable e6750 at 3.6 using patriot ram and thermaltake armor lcs instal time 3 hours with the plumbing an as soon as i can sort the pictures out thier up on here temps are 35o even angled sata cables

Just purchased 2 asus n8800 gts 512 700 x 2068 for next step thanks for looking
 
WOW, nice FSB there fella... that's annoying as I've got the same board and Q6600, but can't get a FSB like that??? :mad::confused:

Nice work fella... ;) Just for interest, what are your BIOS settings for HT, NB and SB voltage, plus anything liek the RAM settings...

MBCWRAITHUK,when you say stock,do you mean auto? 'cause the board will adjust them to whatever it thinks they should be (and mine`s always hideously overgenerous).
pugheaven,have you tried a lower multiplier as my board crapped out at ~510 with a 7x multi :)

That’s because the P5N-D isn’t nearly as good as overclocking quads as it is dual cores. The CPU PWM circuit isn’t up to the job of overclocking quads, other than that it’s a great board paired up to a G0 stepping Conroe or new Wolfdale dual core :)
 
As with all my over clocking i start at "stock meaning" what they should be then i up the mem and fsb until it becomes unstable i then up volts untill stable and had some good success this way even if its not the right way I am using thermaltakes water cooled armor which is fantastic

crap! 1.66v is to much for everyday use, even with decent cooling your chip will soon start to degrade. conroe based processors shouldnt really run over 1.6v for anything other than a quick benchmark run. If your not to bothered about the chip then it doesnt matter tbh.
 
if you had a slightly low vid chip you could probably run 4GHz with 1.55v but 3.8 is not to be sniffed at!
