Hello,

I've tried everything to try and get S3 standby to work properly.

I had 0502 bios and it went into standby ok but when returning it would return with a blue stop error screen usually mentioning a different file and/or code each time.

I tried with the latest 0601 bios and now the system wont return to normal state after standby, the monitor just stays in standby mode, sometimes the pc case light will flash still as in standby mode (even though everything in the system is on - can hear fans), sometimes the cpu fan stays on full speed instead of returning to optimal (heat controlled). Pretty various behaviour.

I tried other things like disconnecting components, trying an ms intel dualcore/standby hotfix, installing sp3, the latest nforce and nvidia drivers.

I've never had this trouble before with other setups, I'm thinking it's the motherboard bios that needs fixing. I've found at least 1 person so far who cannot get standby to work properly but I've yet to post on the official asus forum.

Someone told me it might be related to having the correct option selected in bios when installing windows. In the bios there's 3 options: you can select S1/S3 or one of the 2. I had the S1/S3 option selected, could it really be where I installed windows I should have had just S3 selected, that could cause these issues now?

I've used the same geil ram in another motherboard and standby worked fine there, the ram has worked fine on the p5n-d, but could the only problem it has with the mobo returning successfully from standby?

I don't know what else to do, I haven't got any other DDR2 ram, only 4 sticks of the geil. I've tried it with 2 sticks in and 4 sticks in and 1 stick in.

I know it seems like a rather small issue to obsess over, but it is good to know every feature works on the motherboard you put money into. Standby is much quicker than hibernate.

any other P5N-D users out there please can you try s3 standby in windows xp and report back here, thanks :)
