ASUS P5N-E SLI and Raid problem

I've just recently bought the above mobo 2nd hand but when i setup raid ie Stripe on Nvidia Raid it work fine in windows for a couple of boots then the raid will fail ie disk boot error or something and windows won't load.

Now it done this on both Vista and XP i currently have the 401 bios on the mobo would updatinging it to 703 help or is it some other problem.

Never had any problems setting up raid on my Gigabyte DS3 Rev 1 which im real tempted to go back to.

Obviously double check the disks first. Vary the ones used even.

Low level format and full diagnostics should be done before raid

The NVRAID controller is awful. It's been awful since the NF4 chipsets and it's not getting any better. If you have to, build an array with identical drives and make the stripe size quite tight. And if the board is overclocked at all, I take it you've locked the PCIe bus speed? That can wreck any SATA drive based system.
