Hi guys. My array seems to have a problem at the moment. It seems one of the disks has failed or loss the array details. The drive still shows in my RAID BIOS but when I press 'R' for rebuild, it won't let me. The screen just flashes.

Also, the JMB36X Raid controller that is viewable in Windows says 'MB36X Raid device not found'. I am currently running off the two remaining working drives. How do I rebuild this? The manual is completely useless as it explains none of this. Thanks

Normally you replace the failed drive with another disk and choose the rebuild option. DO NOT try to rebuild onto the existing (failed) drive.

Also, now would be a good time to run a backup ;)

Ah No Swearing!. It won't even let me build on this drive anyway. Does it seem like the drive has failed already (only had it a week)? Backup sounds like a plan!

I have tried changing the SATA cable too.

Thanks mate ;)

Hard drives are funny things...or not in some cases. I have had new drives fail on me the next day, its just one of these things.

The good thing since you say you got RAID 5 setup is that you can still use your computer.

If you have a way to store it an Image backup software like Acronis True Image or ghost is great way to do a complete backup of your system, the only problem is that you will need a lot of free space to store the image.

GL hope you don't lose any data.
