I have just installed the Asus ProbeII software on my new computer and would appreciate some help to interpret some readings from it.

When I run it I get a warning that the motherboard is running too hot. When idle it’s around 43° and if I run the new Crysis Demo it’s about 47°. All the fans are running so how do I find out if this is appropriate for my board or or do I just need to up the threshold so the warnings don't appear.

The CPU runs at 44° when idle and 59° when I run Crysis. I don’t get a warning for this but have no idea if its about what it should be or not.
Any guidance would be very helpful.

Whilst on the subject of motherboards if I put the system into standby it will not wake up the monitor or re-connect to the router which means I cannot really use standby, it does restart the fans etc though.
(S1 mode wakes everything up but is pretty useless at power saving).

Again, advice please from the experts out there would be great as I don’t want to keep switching the system on and off.

Many thanks

The system is,(nothing overclocked):

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme QX6850
Motherboard: Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus
Graphics card: NVidia GeForce 8800 Ultra PCI-E 768MB
Memory: 4.0GB Corsair Twin2X 800mhz XMS2 (4x 1GB)
Hard Drive: 150GB S-ATA Raptor 10,000RPM X 2 (Raid 0)
Case: Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000BNA
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Golden Orb II
PSU: 800W KingWin Modular PSU
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

+ DVD drives, sound card etc.

Some of the settings in Asus Probe II need adjusted, which you can do with the sliders if you think temps are fine, it does it more often than enough for Volts on the top overclocking mobos as they have higher than stock volts to chipsets anyhow.

You should open the full dashboard up so you see all little square meters (or in large view hexagons) then it will flash red when you get a alarm and let you see the issue.

That is quite some PC you have there... How well does the 4GB of Corsair Perform with that board... I have the same board but with 2GB Crucial Ballistix PC6400... i used to have 4GB but it was unstable...

I’m certainly no expert (hence asking the questions here) but everything is stable, no crashes or blue screens. I was advised to go 64 bit because of the 4gb of ram though.

It’s just that I have no idea what the temperatures should be for the motherboard or CPU. It’s great having the Asus Probe but if there is no reference point as to what temperatures should be its pretty useless.

The only thing that wont work with the 64bit system is my Logitech webcam, another ordered, (certainly not Logitech though if they cant be bothered to support their products with updated drivers) and of course my biggest bugbear is that the monitor wont wake up from standby so I have to switch off every time, which I don’t like doing.

Thanks for the replies
