With all the P67 boards coming out and uefi bios being a bit of a buzz at the moment I thought i'd try the EFI bios for the P5q-deluxe.
It updated fine but now the board refuses to overclock at all and it doesnt remap the ram properly so I only have 3GB of Ram under Win7 64bit.
So i want to go back to the normal bios which it backed up during the update. Only problem is it no longer sees the usb pen drive at boot or in the bios. I have no floppy drive.
I have tried to create a dos cd but cant find a dos driver to work with my LG dvdrw drive.
Any Ideas how I can restore the original bios??

I wonder if this UEFI bios will be ported over to other motherboards that have enough flash bios ram to hold the new bios`s.

the board i have has a 16meg flash rom on the sabertooth x58 board so it has ample wonder if they will do that.

To be honest they only released this one beta efi bios for the deluxe and its soooo buggy. They must have stopped development.

Quick update, I managed to get a dos cd driver to work. I flashed it back to the backed up bios. Powered down and now I have nothing at all, just fans at full speed and a blank screen !

Right so I have now swapped bios chips over and i'm now back up and running.

Is there a way i can re-flash the corrupt chip? As I now have no back up chip if this one gets nuked too.

u might have to hot swap possibly :s
u could contact asus/who u bought it from and see if u can get a spare. i had todo that with a epox back in the day i think

Yeah just looking into the hot swap, just looks like a quick way to fry your board to me!

Just wish it was like an old Aopen board I had years ago, It had a dual bios setup wherby u flipped a jumper to select which chip it read and wrote too.

I did same mistake as you too, trying the EFI bios in the past on the same motherboard, I did recover the bad bios by hot swapping and reflashing it in DOS.. Just make sure to use plastic tweezers and not to drop the bios chips on the running motherboard. Was actually very painless process and thanked god at that time I purchased a motherboard with a dual bios.. (1st time ever I nuked a BIOS chip with a bad flash.. and must have done 1000's in my time)

Just make sure to boot up the pc into DOS with the flash software and the latest bios file. ***** Don't try flashing it via the bios flash tool ***** . Swap the bios chips again and then reflash the bad chip.. I did this and it worked fine never had a problem since with it and have reflashed the bios with updated files since.

Good luck and just take your time when doing it and maybe put a sheet of paper around the motherboard area where you may drop the bios chips, but like I said PLASTIC TWEEZERS...
