Hi guys, just been reading the description on OcUK and saw this

2 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots, support ATI CrossFireXTM technology, at x8 speed
(PCIe x16_1 blue, PCIe x16_2 black*)

just want to know,if i have 1 card will it run at x16 and if i run 2,will they both run at x8?

yip in crossfire the slots drop to x8 each. think 2x16 pcie is only available on the x38/48 series boards.a single card on the p5q dlx will run at full x16.

ok what mobo would you recommend?i have Q6600 and i will be overclocking,4 x 1GB ddr2 pc6400c4 ram,1 x HD4850 and will be getting a 2nd 4850.

is there much of a difference easyrider running crossfire on 2x8 as opposed to dual x16 lanes. ive used sli in the past on dual x16 boards but no experience with crossfire. also with the p45 being pcie 2.0 does this help a bit.:)

No,

I would choose the superior clocking P45 chipset, save a good whack of cash and enjoy xfire with little loss of real term perfromance to boot.

yip im quite impressed with the p5q deluxe. gonna be changing to an ati 4870 shortly and may go the crossfire route eventually. currently game at 1920x1200 but my gts 512 isnt ideal at this res particularly when using AA.

Just ordered the basic P5Q. Only saw that it has one PCI-E slot after I bought it. oops.. oh well. I never intend to go with a dual card setup anyway. Too iffy and a single 4870 for example would play any game I have any intention of playing.

Why oh why did they have to put the main power connector where they did I don't know but it's better then putting the IDE channel behind the power connector. It's like they have monkeys working for their board layout teams.

Its certainly one of the strangest places on the board to place the power connector.

I'm just going to route my power cable between my 2900XT and my noctua heatsink (assuming it fits!) and hope for the best. My Asrock DUAL-VSTA that I'm on atm has it in the same position, annoying.

Cant say about the standard p5q and what coolers fit. But on my deluxe to get my arctic freezer to fit, i had to bend a few fins down and clip the bottom corners of the fan off to clear the boards heatsinks.

Gonna be changing to a TRUE 120 soon (finances permitting):D. so the acf7 is only a temporary measure. Does an ok job on my quad at 3ghz but dont wanna go any higher in this warm weather till i replace it.
