Asus P5Q SE Plus - Cannot install XP

I am trying to install Windows XP Professional and I'm using an Asus P5Q SE Plus motherboard with a SATA DVD and HDD. I have enabled the AHCI setting in the BIOS to enhance performance for booting from a SATA HDD.
When I try to install XP I get a BSoD with a stop code 0x0000007B, which I believe I need the AHCI driver for XP that I can add at the start of the XP install by pressing F6 which I am unable to find.

I don't seem to be able to find anything like this on the Asus site.

On previous Asus motherboard I've used there was a facility on the driver CD to create a floppy with the AHCI drivers; I don't seem to be able to find this on the DVD that came with the P5Q SE Plus.

Any ideas please?

Cheers

Phil

Download the BASE pack from here along with the Massstorage pack, you can then use the BASE pack to slipstream a windows disk using the pack downloaded and you will have a windows disk that will be able to install windows xp on any sata chipset :)

Easiest solution I've found to make a disk where you won't need to worry about which sata driver to download.

This old chestnut..lol

Ignore the AHCI setting and leave it at IDE, it will automatically emulate IDE mode via the Sata bus, you will not have to load any SATA / Raid drivers from floppy at all.
Once Windows is installed then enable the AHCI setting in BIOS for full SATA speed.

Catches everyone out (including me), its not very well covered (or at all) in the manual, but the SATA drivers are included in the ICH10 chipset drivers and it's been configured this way for installation on machines with no floppy drives, as I'm led to believe are most modern boards.
No need to make a slipstreamed disc at all.

I'm currently giving it ago, my first thought is that it would just BSoD but then what you said about the SATA drivers are included when the chipset drivers are installed made sence. No harm in trying as the ASUS tech support never made it in because of the snow :p

Try my slipstream method mate, I use the disk I created this way on all machines that require sata drivers to install windows and never have a problem, and the BASE program is very simple to use to do so.
