I have just got this board and have a problem with the ram.

I have two sticks of GeIL 2GB PC2-6400C4 and two 512MB sticks.

I know they are all good, but, if I put all four in I can't boot. It will start but the fans seem to be at half speed and it goes nowhere. If I press the reset button it shts down and reboots itself.

If I put two sticks in everything works fin in the A1 and B1 sockets.

I only get this problem if I put anything in the A2 and B2 sockets.

Do I need another matching pair of 1gb or something.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked the memory compatibility matrix for the board in the owners manual? Are they the correct spec as these motherboards seem very sensitive on the memory front...

It does list the same ram but only the 1gb sticks which I have working atm.

But, they don't work in the other sockets.

Mick, have you tried just 1 gb in each slot individually? On the asus forum they have reported issues with the timings of the ram incorrect on auto and have to be enterd in manually?

I can't find anywhere to alter the ram timings.

Anyway, I have tried 4 x 1gb sticks and it still don't boot.

I have put 1 stick in every slot and it works fine.

I have tried 2 sticks in any two slots and it still works ok.

However as soon as I put a third stick in it fails as it does with four.

I have found the ram timings but don't know which to change........can someone tell me please. My timings are 4-4-4-12

It is the original Bios. There is one update but does'nt mention memory fixes.

Thank's for the link, it's the exact same problem I have.
