Asus P5W-DH I975X use onboard sound?

Hi there, Im looking to upgrade to this mb very soon and would like to know if the onboard sound is any good? I mean to run oblivion and other games or will I lose performance over seperate sound cards.


I have a Audigy 1 sound card should I use this or the onboard newer sound chips?.

You'll lose performance but it should be negligible. As for quality, I've heard contrasting viewpoints about the sound quality of onboard sound vs Audigy cards.

Whilst I can't really give you much help either way (Im using my Audigy 2 ZS in my P5W64) what I would say is that when you consider the size of the cards, the number of components, capacitors, resistors, etc on them - against a single chip on a motherboard, there has to be some tradeoff in quality/performance.

Thanks mate Im looking for a similar system to your sig, apart from a 6600 conroe and stock speeds, what fps should I expect in games like oblivion and ms flight sim x??

All depends on the speakers u going to use.
