Set up the machine today (Conroe X6800), turned on machine, nothing on screen. CPU fan is spinning, GPU fan is spinning, no beeps, nothing.

Help!

I do remember that early revisions of the board had to have the bios flashed to read Conroe - I assumed all new boards would be fine... but do you guys think this is the prob? Or is the board just plain dead?

Take it 4-pin PSU connector is on.....tried reseating everything ?.......1 stick of RAM only.....nothing but essentials plugged in ?

Early revisions needed a BIOS flash, but that hasn't been the case for some time now....unless you got old stock :(

I had a similar problem, found out it was just my over zealous tightening of the CPU waterblock :p

Check for shorts on the motherboard. If all else fails you can ask Asus if they will send you out a replacement bios chip flashed to latest bios.

I had a similar problem where 1 of my sticks oh RAM went pop!
You may want to try it with 1 stick of RAM, and if does not start try the other, if still no go try a different slot with both sticks.

Also I changed my keyboard to a PS/2 one borrowed from work. Dont know if this helped, but it started!!

Lastly, have you tried to remove the battery and reset the bios? Just in case.

Good luck my friend!!!

PS. My system is not even running as I have to RMA the RAM! How annoying, so I understand your frustration!!!

How strange...I've just had a new conroe rig built with the ds3 mobo, and I can't get anything on the screen either, even though theres hdd activity, fans spinning etc
