As title a computer with a P5W64-WS Pro is no longer booting. It has been running fine all morning while we have been configuring RAID. We switched it off to change a HDD connection and upon rebooting it nothing happened.

The fans and pumps are on and working, there is power getting to the board and there are no beeps at all. Normally there is usually at least one beep as the PC boots. There is nothing displayed on the screen either.

We have tried resetting the CMOS and have also completely removed the battery itself and still no joy.

All cables, plugs, cards etc are fitted correctly. The only thing we touched was a SATA cable.

We have also tried unplugging the machine and leaving it a while, still not booting!

Any ideas would be great. As I said it has been working fine all morning so something is amiss and it happened quickly.

EDIT:

Specs are in addition to the motherboard

E6600
OCZ PC2-8000 RAM
ATi Radeon X1900
WD Raptor

are you trying to run the memory at its rated
timings?

i never needed to pull battery from this motherboard
always recovers well.

We just did a little test to see how knackered the mobo might be. So we tried to boot without any RAM and the motherboard beeped at us as expected. We then removed the X1900 and reboot - no beeps at all!

So, we think it is a problem with the PCI-E slot.

Luckily we have another mobo we can try to make sure it isn't a particular component that is screwing with the P5W.
