I installed a third hdd earlier, after putting the drive in on rebooting, all six of my sata ports show as not detected. Ive tried with my os drive on its own, get the message, reboot and select proper boot device. Ive tried loading bios defaults, no joy, different brand new sata cables, still nothing.

Sorry to hear your having problems setter.

You've probably tried this already - but have you done a good-ol'-fashioned CMOS reset?

Yep, tried clr rtc, my blu ray drive is showing up in bios though, connected to sata port 2, storage config set to ide in boot config.

No joy at all. My blu ray drive shows up fine on all 6 sata ports. My os drive, (samsung f1 320) doesnt register on any. Last night when i installed my new hdd, a sammy f3 1tb, along with my old western digital 250 gb, on boot none of my 3 drives were listed in bios. Cant understand what would cause 3 drives to die in one night, power shouldnt be a problem as im running an 850w psu, the drives were first powered via molex - sata adapters, tried the modular sata power cables themselves, still no joy. Got another western digital 250 gb drive from a second rig, gonna try it later.

Bit of an update, tried the old caviar 250gb from my second rig, recognised in bios straight away. Seems that all 3 of my hdd's may have died at once.

You've probably tried this - have you tested to see if any of the 3 HDDs are recognised in your second rig?

Ouch! :/

Have you inspected the MB closely for damage?

I would also consider testing the PSU if you haven't aleady. Admittedly, it would be a strange symptom for a PSU - but then so is the problem(3 dead drives). I would want to double check it's integrity before putting into a new rig (just seen your MB thread above.).

You could have just been incredibly unlucky - in that the added 3rd drive caused a temporary short which killed all of them. Perahps a flakey SATA port or cable or even the 3rd drive itself...

Lots of ifs and maybes i'm afarid

Good luck, setter, hope you find a difinitive solution.
