OK I'm halfway through the build on my PC but have a query regarding power connections.

In the 12v connector near the cpu socket there is space for both the splittable 12volt connectors (4/8pin) - but one half has a blanking plate put in it.

Do I need the full unsplit 8 connector in there? I have a 920 with 6gb ram and a GTX 260.

Best to put an 8-pin plug in there, yes. I'm not sure it's essential, but better to have the extra power if needed.

If you have an 8-pin connector available, use it. It's part of the Intel specification that the connector is fitted, but it often works perfectly well without it. You'll never know if you could have a better overclock or a more stable system unless you plug it in.

if the option is available to you - use it

in my opinion - if your psu doesnt have an 8 pin connector for the 12v then you dont have a good enough power supply for your system

Hi, never used 8-pin on my system and my overclock is fine. Use it if you want to, makes no difference unless you plan a really high overclock..
