So :P i have one of these boards and 2x15krpm 146gb sas drives are on their way.

My question is, is the controller n e good? or is there a cheapish controller out there that will be miles better?

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

I would think that it is just the same as the case between using the ICH10R controller (the SAS RAID cont. on the P6TP WS Rev also being a software implementation and not a true hardware) or a true hardware SATA RAID card to run HDDs in RAID0/1, in which there is little or no difference, but if using RAID5 then the true hardware RAID card will have quite superior write speeds because of its onboard processor/ram...

So basically if you are simply setting up a couple of SAS HDDs in RAID0 (on the P6T6 WS Rev), I would think you will get no performance gain by going to a true hardware SAS RAID card...however, if I'm off the mark here, I'm sure someone will correct me.
