Ok I have just finished building new pc (i7/920 Asus P6X58D-E).

Installed
Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 12800C9

but this would not boot - red light on Memory Check stuck on solid red.

Removed 2 sticks and after numerous power resets managed to get it to boot.

Have installed Windows 7 but still only have 2Mb Ram installed.

Tried installing more sticks but pc just hangs.

I am assuming i need to go into the BIOS and make some changes but not sure where to start. All the memory settings seem to be on Auto at the moment.

Can someone shed any light on this?

Double check the memory is installed in the blue slots - made the same mistake when building my system.

Try running mem-test on each module, you might have a faulty stick.

All sorted and working.

Installed as three sticks int A1 B1 C1 (blue sockets) then holding memtest button down powered PC up. After about 30 seconds released the memtest and the board thought about it for a few seconds before the memtest light flashed and the PC restarted. You then get on-screen message and just need to press F1. This then takes you into the BIOS - hit F10 to save and exit and everything works.

Now to get some baseline tests done.

Yes all 6Gb ram is detected but needs some working on - just glad it is posting now.

Using Noctua NH-D14 - it's a beast.

I asked those 2 questions because there is an issue with the Thermalright Venomous X and this board, in that only 4GB of 6GB and 8GB of 12 is seen, which can be fixed by putting 4 (four) fibrous washers between the (heatsink) backplate and the motherboard...

Glad you got it sorted...
