Please can anyone help?
Planning a new system using asus I7 P6X58D-E socket 1366 mobo which has triple channel support and using I7 950 cpu.

This system would initially be used with win xp 32 bit but posible later changed to win7. For XP 4gb of ram is what I would normally have chosen.

But thinking about later upgrade is there any problems about using one of the 6gb sets on xp (or maybe just 2 sticks of it).

Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks

I would definitely buy a tri-set pack, such as the XMS3 12800, as you're thinking of getting win 7 (64 bit) at a later date.

If you only want to run 4gb while using XP you can run just 2 sticks in dual channel mode (your board will do this) using slots A1 and B1.

And when you've updated to win7 64 bit stick the 3rd stick in and run it in tri-channel - using slots A1, B1 and C1.

Just install the 6gb and run it in winxp, you wont get the full benefit of the ram. But once you upgrade to win7 64 youll be sorted. I had to do this for a week or so as i was waiting on my copy of win7 being delivered.
