Just tried to put together a system with an ASUS P7P55D, core i5 750 and it won't post. The CPU-LED light it on red with the CPU fan spining, all other warning LEDs are off. Not sure what I should do next?

Double check all your power leads and make sure the 24 pin and 8 pin plugs are all the way in. Clearing cmos may help. Make sure the boards not shorting out on the case. What's the full spec plus psu?

Not on the P7P55D series it is'nt. Two sticks should go in the light blue slots A1/B1. As you look at the board it's the second and fourth slots away from the cpu.

tried clearing the CMOS made no difference,
RAM Dimms are in the right slots. Tried one stick in A1 and B1, makes no difference.
power supply (OCZ 500W modular) is fully plugged into the 24pin and 8pin connectors and GFX card (5750). I tried plugging a 4pin connector into the 8pin because initally the 8pin had 4 of it's pins covered.

I tried booting it out of the case first actually and that didn't work, it would just spark into life for a second and then die instantly. Once in the case, it spins up all the chasis fans and CPU fan is spinning. I hear the harddrive spins up, the GFX card lights up and the fan spins. But it won't post.

I removed all the leads and just boot it from the power on button on the mobo but it makes no difference.

Going to try putting another CPU and GFX card in it now. Just wondering if the mobo will take an i7, says it will on the box but no tri channel memory.

Got my other computer out.

Transferred the RAM to my good PC one stick at a time and both DIMMs work so RAM is okay.

Next I tried putting the new GFX card in my old computer and it gave a GFX card POST error, 1 long 3 short. So the new GFX card is broken I think.

Then I tried my old GFX card in the new computer, but still the same problem i.e., no POST so possible CPU or MOBO error?

Then I tried my old PSU in the new computer, same problem, no POST.

Now I'm fed up, so going to wait until tomorrow and put my old CPU in the new MOBO, if that works I'll know the new CPU and GFX card are dead, if it doesn't work I'll assume the new MOBO and GFX card are dead.

mmmmm......id say if you dont get any bios error beeps something isnt plugged in right

you said 4 pin connecter plugged in because 4 were covered...did you take the cover off and plug in the 8 pins?

first time everyone told me to use closest black slots even though it worked, overclocking was absolute nightmare and asus software didn't work well either. Now im in blue slots everythings fine!

The red led is cpu power plug, mine didn't like 8pin connector either no post, half the plug was capped with a black thing so bought a new psu and only used 4pin cpu lead and got post.

I got the video card error when I put it in my working machine.

I tried with 4pin in 8pin socket but no joy. But may try again with the psu from my working machine.

Tried mem-ok but it made no difference, just made the ram led blink
