Asus P7P55D-E and onboard NIC stopping working

I recently built a machine for dual booting Win 7 64 bit and Pinguy OS. Every few boots the onboard NIC stops working and Win7 reports that the cable is disconnected. I have tested/checked/replaced all components and the only guaranteed fix is to pull the power cable and wait ten seconds before reconnecting and then rebooting. Has anyone any ideas what is going on? Thanks, Stephen

Is it just Windows that the NIC stops working in? If so first step would be update the drivers for at least the integrated NIC if not the whole motherboard. It might also be worth updating the BIOS aswell.
Another option worth checking is disabling network boot options in CMOS. Quite often the onboard NIC will have options for network boot w/ PXE etc. Turning this off might help. (you're not liely to use it ever)

This happens to me too. I also dual boot (Win7 and Ubuntu).

I don't have this issue from a cold boot, regardless of the OS. It only happens when I reboot into either Win7/Ubuntu. This happens randomly it does not happen on every boot.

Unplugging the Ethernet cable and plugging it back in has no effect.

The solution I have is either boot into Wiin7 and run the troubleshooter thing when no internet connection is detected. I guess Windows just restarts the NIC here.

Or I'll turn the computer completely off and unplug it from the wall. Wait a few seconds and the NIC will work fine again.
