Asus P7P55D-E + i3?

I am thinking of buying a Asus P7P55D-E motherboard and an i3 540 processor, but in the description of the motherboard, it only states support for both i5 and i7, but no i3. am i just being dumb or will these work together happily?

You are not going to use the onboard graphic of the i3 are you? Cause that would require a H55 chipset board.
