Hi all,
I just wanted to make a thread to compile the info on this board so far as people have had some issues. I am getting mine hopefully this weekend so its a kind of reference for myself also, please add any information to this and I will edit;

Issues
Wont POST
Cold Boot
Red LED next to RAM
CPU Fan Error

Possible Corrective Actions
BIOS: BCLK = 100

RAM: 1333MHz;
In BIOS advanced: Ai Tweaker tab > Ai Overclock tuner > Manual
Memory Frequency > 1600mhz

If no result try altering voltage
(stay below 1.6 if possible):
Ai Tweaker tab > Ai Overclock tuner > Manual
Memory Frequency > 1600mhz
DRAM Voltage (scroll down to see it) > Set the voltage
[Thanks to Gegenki]

RAM: Move to A1 B1 slots
RAM: Press an hold small button on mobo next to ram for it to recognise the new RAM
GPU: place in 2nd PCI-e slot
CPU Fan: Move a fan to the CPU header.
CLRTC -> Remove power cable for 5mins remove mobo battery 5-10mins and then switch the RAM jumper from standard (pin1+2) to Clear (Pin2+3) for 10-15sec and place back. This has helped solve several issues.

Updated BIOS: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1578865
This is an updated BIOS january 2011 and has helped solve (not in all cases);
Cold boot issues, RAM detection issues and POST issues.

Side Note: Best to not exceed 1.38v CPU on the i5/i6 chips

I will hunt for more issues/possible solutions in a bit. If people have had and overcome any more issues please post :)
Thanks all and to Matthab who I noticed the BIOS update from :)

Still searching across the forums if anyone wants to add in then I can further update this to try and compile all the info in 1 place.

Cheers all

Good stuff Nytram.

I rarely recommend something to be a 'sticky' but they should consider using this page until the Asus issues die down. Who knows, it may reduce their RMA rates.

i find this really horrible!!! if you buy a motherboard for that price the last thing you would expect is mess around to get the bloody thing to work, that is just not right. My mate told me he had to reboot like 16 times to get him ram working at 1600Mhz, when i built my other friend a rig with other brand motherboard even before installing os i changed ram from 1333Mhz to 1600Mhz and he has never had a problem with anything.
but i wish everyone with problems best of luck hope they all get sorted =]

The only issue I had with my Asus P8P67 was that the BIOS needing updating to the beta BIOS 1053 available on Asus website in order to overclock my i5-2500k to 4.6ghz otherwise it would not boot past 4.3ghz.

You can only update the BIOS from a FAT partition which I managed to do from my external hard drive... if you have an NTFS formatted main HD you cannot run the update from that.

Excellent thread OP.
I'm going to RMA my board, and let ocuk work their magic. I prayer I get another branded board, Gigabyte next time...they played safe by not jumping on the EFI bandwagon.

Hey all im currently on my gf's netbook getting stuck with BSOD when trying to boot into windows. unfortunatly my thread hasnt helped me yet lol but it might be because im trying to boot with an old HDD that has vista pre-installed. Will keep trying!

Hi mate, sorry to hear your having issues.

I know you have probably tried a variation of this and my issue was diffrent but you could try exactly what worked for me:-

Update to beta BIOS 1053 - easy way is to download and extract bios file to usb drive/stick and update from tools section of bios.

Powered off and removed power cord

Clear RTC jumper and while jumper was in clear position removed battery.

Leave it like this for 1 or 2 to make sure it does clear

Changed jumper back to normal, re instered battery

Boot back into BIOS and make any changes.

Make sure BCLK is manually set to 100 - any higher and your running your memory overclocked. Maybe not by much but could be enough to cause problems.

Manually select correct memory settings.

Save and Re Boot and cross everything :)

If you try this can you post and let us know how you get on?

Was the old HDD Vista install, setup with AHCI setting for SATA ?
Try setting the SATA drive to IDE mode in the bios on the board, as the Asus boards are set to AHCI out of the box. Then use the AHCI reg hack to change to AHCI if you need to.

Its all good now my gf's old harddrive had a virus so i got a windows 7 for it a few months back, whacked that in and with a fresh instal its booted fine. Just addings in my extra RAM befor I attempt some OCing :)

I may well try what you said Bito when I put my old HDD back, if it works i'll pop it at the top, meanwhile great info for the thread, thanks guys :)

Edit: I also did all that coney :) but sure enough it didnt like the instal or could have been what said

I've had an issue with this board and Corsair Ram (Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) [CMX8GX3M2A1600C9]) Set the RAM to to 1600 in the BIOS and system restarts fine no issues. Play Metro 2033, Black Ops no issues, no BSOD no nothing apart from a cold boot the system seems to hang. No output on the dispaly at all and I can hear the system restarting. Press Mem OK and eventully system boots but your greated with the error something along the lines of "failed overclock...."

system at this point rests RAM to 1066. So first i tried setting the timings 9-9-9-24 (not touched the voultage as yet oh and forgot to mention apart from disable onboard sound and splash screen this was the only other changes I've made so far.) and setting it back to 1600 but again the same issue.

Did some googling last nite and found a post regarding clearing the rtc. Turn off system, disconnect power. move jumper from pins 1&2 to 2&3 for 5-10 seconds. Move it back and power on. No no idea what this has acctually done but it appears to have sorted the issue bar the first boot after this procedure. For some reason BIOS had RAM set at 1600 but post display was saying 1066??

Oh forgot to mention running BIOS ver 0405 (think it is. Cant rember but it's not the latest ver).

Anyway seems this worked for some people but not all. WIll play around some more and post back if any more issues arise. Have to say though apart from this minor little niggle very please with the upgrade so far

Overall I'm very pleased with my P8P67 Pro, I also have the issue with cold booting with RAM set at 1600, I have corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 (4 x 2GB). It works fine until you try to cold boot and then it hangs with the red LED by the RAM. I have to hold the MemOK button until the LED goes out then it restarts a couple times before it POSTs with the RAM automatically set back to 1333. I guess this is a BIOS issue and hope Asus make an update that addresses this issue (currently running v1003). I've had it working at 1600 with 1.65v and 1.59v (after I read sandy bridge CPU's don't like it to high >_<) I've done a few passes with the new beta memtest86+ 4.20b (only version that supports sandy bridge) with every different combination of settings I've tried and never showed up any problems. For now I've set it back to 1333 but with 8-8-8-24 CAS, this works fine from a cold boot.

The clear rtc & remove battery procedure discussed on this forum and the Asus forum resolves this issue for most people. If you haven't tried it then you should give it a go as it worked for me and I have the sam RAM and board as you.

Hi guys,
I've just got my p8p67 pro today but cannot do anything until tomorrow.

Can someone give me a complete idiot guide what to set in the bios should i have issues as regards to voltages & other settings? I hope to OC it to whatever a standard cooler can provide until i can afford an H70. I can strip a car engine down but when it comes to bios :eek:

Asus P8P67 Pro, Corsair XMS3 2 x 2GB (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9), i5 2500K (stock cooler for now)

Thanks in advance.
Mike

coneypark, It works! :D I don't understand why it works, but it just does :D surly that jumper is just resetting bios settings back to factory defaults... which is the way it should have been when I got it  I've actually gone one further and overclocked it a bit :D 1872Mhz at 1.575v, I had to increase the CAS a tiny bit to 10-10-10-24 to get it to work at all, and I've stuck a fan blowing over the ram because it gets a bit warmer. I've been running a few benchmarks in mafia 2 and I'm getting on average 3fps more than I was with the ram at 1333, every little helps :p
